1ST Art
Ages 2-5
Instructor: Kim Herman
Let 1st Art be your first stop for educational fun this summer. Our experienced early childhood specialist has designed a fun, age-appropriate curriculum based on a playful approach to art. The 1st Art program engages our youngest artists and fosters learning by teaching fundamental motor skills, increasing self-confidence, promoting awareness of the visual and tactile world, and by integrating the senses. Expect a balance of drawing, painting and craft-based projects during each class. 2-3 year old students enroll for courses with a parent or guardian; 4-5 year old students take the class without parent or guardian.
Week 1, July 6-10
In the Good Old Summertime

Let summertime activities inspire your artwork in this fun-filled art class. Use an assortment of art materials as you take an imaginary trip to the beach, the backyard and vacation destinations.
Week 2, July 13-17
Once Upon a Time

Open the pages of several children’s storybooks and create artworks inspired by the characters, places and themes you find inside. Make your very own storybook along with a selection of other artworks.
Week 3, July 20-24
Go Wild!

Embark on an imaginary trip to the animal world and back and use a variety of media to create puppets, sculptures and paintings inspired by animals of all shapes and sizes.

Clearly Inspired!

Even the youngest artists can create artwork inspired by CAC’s summer exhibition, Art of Glass 2. Create several artworks such as sun catchers and glistening mobiles using a range of transparent materials.
