In celebration of the 1607 First Landing in Virginia Beach, the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC) presents “Magna Carta and Four Foundations of Freedom,” a multi-faceted exhibition including the Lincoln Cathedral Magna Carta, an early broadside of the Declaration of Independence, James Wilson’s notes from the first drafting of the U.S. Constitution, a signed copy of the Emancipation Proclamation and the Virginia Declaration of Rights. “Magna Carta and Four Foundations of Freedom” explores the relevance of these five historical documents to contemporary civil liberties. >more The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC) is preparing for an exciting fall exhibition of Chinese art. The Face of Contemporary Art in China features more than 40 works in various media, by a variety of artists. Comprised of works from two private American collections, this exhibition demonstrates a departure from nationalistic art in the post-Mao era. >more The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC) received two major grants this fall, both of which will fuel the Museum’s ever-growing art education programs. The Alison J. and Ella W. Parsons Fund of the Norfolk Foundation awarded CAC $60,000 for upgrades in CAC’s Studio School. This grant enables CAC to purchase studio equipment for its photography, ceramics and 1st Art programs, and new lighting throughout the Studio School classrooms. >more |
