CAC Receives Two Major Grants This Fall VIRGINIA BEACH, VA—The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC) received two major grants this fall, both of which will fuel the Museum’s ever-growing art education programs. The Alison J. and Ella W. Parsons Fund of the Norfolk Foundation awarded CAC $60,000 for upgrades in CAC’s Studio School. This grant enables CAC to purchase studio equipment for its photography, ceramics and 1st Art programs, and new lighting throughout the Studio School classrooms. Target Stores Community Giving Program awarded CAC $2,000 to improve and expand its Student Art Start (SAS) program, an educational field trip program for students in grades 3-8 that links contemporary art with Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) goals. The Target Stores Community Giving Program focuses on the arts, early childhood reading and family violence prevention and is run through local Target stores. CAC’s director of development and external affairs, Jennifer Sieracki Roe, appeared at the Target on First Colonial Road in Virginia Beach to accept the award from the Store’s management team. CAC is supported by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Business Consortium for Arts Support, The Norfolk Foundation and the Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission. CAC is located at 2200 Parks Avenue at the entrance of Interstate-264 in Virginia Beach. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 5pm; Saturday, 10am to 4pm and Sunday, noon to 4pm.
