GALLERY AND YOUTH PROGRAM MANAGER

Full-Time Position (40 hours/week)
Position Description: Candidate should have a bachelor's in fine art, art education or art history and experience working with children and adults through public programming. Knowledge of current computer applications and strong written and oral skills is a must.

The position of Gallery and Youth Program Manager includes (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities:

Manages the Student Art Start (SAS) program, including maintaining and growing existing partnerships and bringing in new groups for tours and SAS. The scheduling of programs is also done by this individual and involves working closely with the Associate Curator of Education, the Director of Facility Rental, the Director of Security, and reception.

Writes and facilitates mailing of SAS pre-visit packets. Works cooperatively with the Director of Exhibitions and Education to create streamlined, yet effective packets to enhance the museum and SAS experience.

Recruits, trains, and manages the gallery teachers. This effort involves scheduling, developing, and facilitating training sessions; scheduling teachers for SAS and tours; keeping teachers informed of SAS and CAC events through weekly communication (via email); evaluating teachers in the gallery; and conducting one recruiting and new teacher training program per year.

Manages the Pre K Art Day program. Management of this program involves supervising the teachers of this program, developing themes and curricula for monthly sessions, and publicizing the program.

Serves on the Virginia Docent Exchange Committee

Represents CAC at meetings of the South Hampton Roads Museums Forum

Works with the Director of Exhibitions and Education to facilitate Teaching With Art classes

Works on other projects and research as requested by the Director of Exhibitions and Education
