Edgar Arceneaux: The Agitation of Expansion
January 17-March 23, 2008
This exhibition of silk-screens, film and video installation explores the interplay of fiction, illusion and reality. Los Angeles-based artist Edgar Arceneaux investigates the many variations of how truth is presented and perceived through deliberate and accidental loss and disintegration of information. The rising question for the truth and that which appears true is rendered through his subjective use of documentary strategies, confusing the difference between reality, fiction and perception. The artist pays particular attention to the concepts of time, space, location and association. The works have been recontextualized from their first showing at Galerie Kamm, Berlin.
