NEPTUNE FESTIVAL
ART & CRAFT SHOW

The Neptune Festival Art & Craft Show (September 24-26, 2010) is produced by the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia and is part of a longstanding, citywide festival. The show runs continuously along the boardwalk from 17th Street to 32nd Street, overlooking the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and vast sandy beach. Artists and craftsmen in all media are eligible, and acceptance is based on a blind jury process. This show does not include a section for commercial or imported products. In all cases, the spirit of our guidelines intends that the work depend heavily on the “handmade" aspect of art and craft. We do not allow buy/sell and we reserve the right to remove work from the show that violates our policies and guidelines. All accepted artists are eligible for awards.

SHOW HOURS:

Friday, noon-7pm
Saturday, 10am–7pm
Sunday, 10am–6pm

Neptune Festival Facts

Neptune Weekend  has evolved into one of the Country's Top 100 Festivals and Top 10 on the East Coast. It has become a major visitor draw, filling the hotels at the Oceanfront and bringing thousands of local visitors to the Boardwalk. Heralded as the city's largest and oldest event, it's also one of the largest events in the state of Virginia.

Neptune Festival Weekend is a Top 100 Events in North America by the ABA and among the Top 20 Events in the Southeastern US by the Southeast Tourism Society.

Neptune Weekend occurs during the last weekend of September and is the largest annual special event in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

An economic impact survey conducted by the Bureau of Research, College of Business and Public Administration at

Old Dominion University and a recent audit by the International Events Group revealed the following:

  • Attracts more than 500,000 people each year.
  • Draws 96% of its visitors from the Hampton Roads area, of whom 60% are from Virginia Beach and 40% from Greater Hampton Roads.
  • Every hotel room in the Virginia Beach resort area is booked during the Neptune Festival with over 93% of these being repeat visitors.
